Approval to use an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS), also known as “drones” over District of Columbia airspace is regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transportation Security Administration (FAA). The airspace above Washington, DC (the “National Capital Region”) is more restricted than in any other part of the country.
